We can only hope the more radical he becomes, moderates will flee, the rally last week in Rome Ga was reported by the local paper to have 4500 attendees, years prior his rally in the same town had 20,000 and was held at the regional airport. Hopeful, this recalibration of venues by the Trump team shows the cult devotees are shrinking in number.

As Amy Walter put it in a PBS Newshour interview after it became clear on election day, 2023, "when I talked to one Democrat who was doing a lot of work in Virginia this morning, this person told me that Republicans don't have a communications or a messaging problem. They have a problem problem."

Ohio made the then-seventh state to enshrine the right to access reproductive healthcare in its constitution. As reported, 11 states may follow suit with ballot initiatives this November.

Another great column Reed! I was at a meeting last night for democratic women and a rep for Planned Parenthood is helping us get organized for November!

Fox News is spreading the concept of Uniparty, as in you are either a full-on MAGA or you are Uniparty anti-MAGA. No room for independents, non-Trump Rs or undecideds. So good luck on Donald inviting anyone into his tent. His own cult followers have the door blocked.

That's interesting. Rs are a numerical minority and then you shrink the tent with the bullying? but they are rabid voters where access is better in districts /states that are gerrymandered for minority rule. Bush 43 won by going to the rural base, completely ignored campaigning in swing cities. It's hard to imagine an R win by the numbers.

Toonces! Thank you 😻 Colbert called Lara Trump, “Plastic surgery who’s had some woman done.” I’m reminded of Topsy the Elephant 🐘 but don’t look for the disturbing real footage, go with the Belcher kids reimagineactiment.

Absolutely true. He was never going to be anything close to a responsible adult. Never.

Reed, my almost-conspiracy theory about this is that should he win, God forbid, Trump would soon be replaced by the VP. The 25th Amendment? Defenestration? Who knows. There are some smart, crafty, dangerous people behind the Project 2025 stuff. I fear they won't let a befuddled chump stand in their way. I'm watching the choice of running mate. I think that will show us what we're dealing with. With the journos catch on in time? We can hope.

His campaign will claim he’s trying to appeal to moderates, but then the senile old fat will go out in public, like he did today, and spill the beans.

Donald Trump must throw his shoulder out several times a month for patting himself on the back constantly. He claims in this post he was able to do what no one had been able to do in 50 years. Well on a surface level that’s true, but any POTUS who was given 3 SCOTUS positions & dared to call them into getting rid of a policy they’ve (as Conservatives) never agreed with is no great feat but he constantly praises himself for it. TFG said liberals are having abortions at 9 months & even after. So ridiculously idiotic it’s repulsive that he’s so dumb he doesn’t realize a baby is born after 9 months ergo it can’t be aborted, but this is the level of ignorance with which we’ve been forced to deal. We need to get rid of the EC & pack the court so it’s balanced, & should always have an equal number of justices from both sides. Ties should be decided by someone like SPOH, VP or whomever they choose. This is a lifetime appointment. To think we’ll be dealing with this right wing extremist justices when the world is becoming more liberal will be a difficult factor, even ignoring climate change, at a minimum. Some of these justices have been accepting vacations & luxury cruises from GOP donors & 1 justice’s wife participated in the Jan 6th planning & conspiracy. That SCOTUS should be impeached immediately and this behavior stopped. Perhaps we shouldn’t allow SCOTUS as lifetime appointments but 10-15 years instead.

Nancy Mace fits the bill for VP as you described.

First of all, thanks for introducing me to Toonces & Spunky. Made a good point as well as made me laugh. Let's hope Trump and his campaign go "down, down, down" into that "burning ring of fire." As, always, Reed a very good article.
