I am reposting this comment because it seems pertinent to this article.

I’m tired of hearing how we have to “understand” these MAGA’s.

They are cruel, despicable, selfish racists. Have they no one in the armed services? Have they no one who’s disabled, no minority or gay friends?

Do they not know anyone who stutters?

Apparently not.

Cheering on a man who mocks and belittles those less fortunate? Bully those who did not choose their impairments?

What kind of person does that? Cheers for that???

I, for one, am done trying to understand them. I want nothing more to do with them. My only hope is that they go the way of the dinosaurs sooner rather than later.

Yes, I, too, hope they join the dinosaurs very soon. Well, said.

Leadership at its best. I would send this to Cult 45 members I am acquainted with, but, you know what? Their responses would be, “Come on, it’s politics, and each side does stuff like this.” Bullshit!

It’s not just a stutterer. It’s all of us who have a disability. Trump, in response to Gen Miley’s comments in late September 2023, gave permission to his syncophants to release the hate. Greg Locke, with wheelchairs or with autism, Megan Basham with calling people “retards”, Andrew Tate with saying men should not be prosecuted for raping females with cerebral palsy because “They like it”. That because of the heightened arousal/climax responses in people with spastic cp. it makes them coveted targets for sexual predators. There are many more outrage entrepreneurs who have starting bashing those with disabilities in the past several months.

Tramp and MAGA released the hate and moved the Overton window. More than 1/3 of the people alive right now will be diagnosed with some form of disability. In case someone is thinking “This doesn’t affect me”-think again. Not only is MAGA trying to bash those with disabilities , they are trying to bash empathy. That is because those with disabilities live among us.

What Reed said about values is spot on! Please keep calling out this hate.

My mom had polio and walked with a limp because one leg was shorter than the other, etc. My sister and I were always baffled when people asked about her disability, because we didn't know what the disability was. She was just our caring, successful, beautiful mom.

Thanks for sharing that! It’s wonderful to read how much you loved your mom and you were able, because of her ability to adapt, experience more of the fullness of her as a human being.

Like your mom, I’ve wanted to be known by how I’ve lived and loved in community-not by my disability. When it’s a mild disability, it’s easier to pull off. For those more severely impacted, we must remember to demonstrate and model our empathy and humanity.

Spoke to my heart, too.

I asked a family member what she thinks of a man who does what Trump did over the weekend and shared a link of the video showing Trump mocking Biden for his speech. And her response was:

“Wish he would stop making fun of everyone and tell what he’s going to do. His mouth will do him in”

What can you say to that? It never ends.

There is funny and there is not funny. This belittling, bullying, behavior is not funny, it is disgusting. Not only does this behavior disgust me, but it also saddens me. It's like Trump opened Pandora's box and filled the world with the shallowness and hate that had been lurking inside. Thanks, Reed for caring so much and calling them out. Anger is good, when the cause is good. Right on!

He enrages me every day. We don’t have to understand or reach them. We must make them, and him, irrelevant.

Thank you for calling them out. We must take note!

I remember a comment but not by who about what Trump is:

It’s as if you scraped up the most vile sludge in America, put it in an orange sausage skin and taught it to make noises.

Your video was brilliant. Thank you!!!

I forwarded it to a dear friend who voted for trump twice and thinks President Biden runs a crime family. If this doesn’t change her mind, nothing will.

Thanks, again Reed.

Really a good one!

Once again, you have done an excellent job of highlighting some of the most critical concerns surrounding this election. They want to control your bodies. Does anyone truly believe they will stop there? That’s not how the authoritarian game is played. As for mocking the disability of another person, go ahead and laugh, reveling for one instant in the belief that you are powerful and superior to others. But don’t let down your guard. As soon as you stumble and fall, the bully will be first in line to ridicule you. There is no “in” group when you are talking about a malignant narcissist. His loyalty does not extend beyond himself. He represents no one. I wish we understood the danger.
