Every time I read one of your posts I sigh a sigh of relief. I get wound up reading "the news" and opinions of political "experts", then I read something from you (and other TLP writers) and feel sane again. Your writing brings me up to an elevation where I can see more objectively and shake off the muck of reading opinions. I'm desperately trying to let my breath go and relax into the next 265 days. Thanks for the breath.

Keep calm and carry on. This should be the first, second, and third thoughts of all Dem supporters between now and November. It worked for us Brits in WWII; it will work for you too. And Galen is right, you have to fight because Trump is so, so vulnerable. Just look at Charles' comment below. That will work. Attack as hard the GOP does. There's no point wielding a banana in a knife fight.

It wears you down. You'll have to keep reminding us over and over again until the Trump nightmare is behind us. Keep shouting it from the mountain tops!

I heard talk Republicans and/or rightwing groups will be playing tricks again like running candidates with the same or similar names as Democrats and actually running secret MAGA candidates as Democrats then flipping to Republican if elected. No shame.

They have already done that in many places. RFK is being run and funded by Republicans 🙄 it is disgusting!

Is there any evidence for this other than social media and the repetition of a few tales from past elections? I cannot find any. I hope I'm wrong, but it has the feel of a conspiracy theory.

Yes, I do understand that's the basis for the rumour doing the rounds. But is there any evidence beyond people saying a friend-of-a-friend told them that some GOP operative said they will do it again?

thank you kindly, Reed, for this resolve-stiffening post, will need these frequently as the firehoses of s*it bombard us daily...what's most challenging me right now is seeing how many people I respect are still calling for Biden to step down, diagnosing Biden's condition without a shred of expertise. the latest was Jon Stewart last night, using his restored pulpit at The Daily Show to tell us that whichever guy wins, the country will not be destroyed.... anyway, keep reminding us, it really helps.

A thought. Is it possible to sue Texas or Abbott if you are a person who has a family member murdered within a week by someone sent in to say NY or Chicago by TX? Thinking class action for all victims who would have never been but are now dead because of TX.

Thank you for the important reminder. This is a difficult and often nerve wracking time in history. Remaining calm is also what I look for in a leader. A president, above all, should be a model of sanity, good judgment and knowledge. Those who are losing their minds over the special counsel’s report are ignorant of two facts: 1) the mechanics of stuttering. In those who stutter, much of the prefrontal activity is devoted to managing the stutter, leaving fewer neurons to quickly find the right word or correct a mistake. Hence, a lifetime of gaffes. It is nothing but an act of cruelty to ridicule this. 2) Only a select few professionals (e.g., neurologists, gerontologists, psychiatrists and clinical psychologists trained to do neuro-psych exams) are qualified to assess dementia. You may note that this list does not include special investigators from the Justice Department.

But we won in NY tonight and it wasn’t even close. So much for polls

Thanks for this...I was feeling that panic starting to build just this morning! Perfect timing!

Reed, the quote by JFK with concluding his remarks with the Dante quote says it all. Indeed, now is not the time for complacently and neutrality. However, staying calm is hard. Sometimes I have felt like the Green Man of Outrage, not Panic. Outrage is not helpful either. It's a waste of energy. President Biden's leadership and character as compared to the hallow, soulless Trumpets is not hard to do. So, keep calm and carry on, and please compare and contrast the difference not just once or twice but all the time! Thanks for all you do Reed...and the Tim Alberta podcast was quite interesting.

Your former colleague who writes a substack called "The Warning" paints a grim grim picture of all this.

Thank you. I needed that. I'll try to get a little more optimistic, but the news cycles sure make it difficult.
