Thank you, thank you, thank you. As a mental health professional, your grasp of his personality disorder (and what can cause him to decompensate further) is well-informed. As a progressive democrat, I’m still not hyper-partisan, but I am an ardent supporter of democracy. As an ordained minister, I tread lightly, but try to lift up the highest ideals of our faith (acts of compassion and mercy), hoping others will connect the dots. As an alarmed human, your organization will get my support!
You have inspired me. I have been donating money to the Democrats, but now am going to add my service in the form of volunteering to register new voters.
As a refugee from East Germany and an immigrant from West Germany, I am appalled at the lack of understanding so many Americans have of what it means to live under an authoritarian government. Once you head down that road, it takes generations to right the wrong, if even possible. As much as I miss my parents, I’m glad that they did not live to see what is happening in the country they loved so much they gave up everything to make it their new home. It’s all so deeply disappointing.
Great post, Reed. I especially appreciate you giving practical advice to various constituencies of the pro-democracy coalition. There are a lot of people like me that want to do more than simply vote. We are eager for more practical advice.
Today I read an Axios article called: "Behind The Curtain: Trump's exponential power surge." and started to panic. The Economist keeps publishing articles on how Biden is going to lose and it makes me depressed. Reading your article feels makes me hopeful. The Lincoln Project hasn't been wrong yet! I believe we can beat him if we all work together.
Thanks Reed. Since I’ve followed you & other trusted truth tellers for years with discernment, I think it’s time to cross pollinate on each other’s platforms to get the mission & message out to ensure a big win in November.
You’re all saying the same things in your silos daily & weekly. I know because I listen to & read diverse viewpoints & backgrounds.
It’s refreshing to hear another voice that you aren’t tuned into and with whom you share the same mission.
LP has the best reputation for surgical psychological warfare & strategic fighting. This is why everyone plays YOUR ADS on their shows.
Roland Martin, Thom Hartmann, GaslitNation, The Breakfast Club, Karen Hunter, Stephanie Miller, Bob Cesca, Dean Obeidallah, John Fugelsang, Al Franken, Michael Moore, Meidastouch, Amanpour, The Bulwark, David Feldman, Sisters in Law, The New Abnormal, Democracyish, Woke AF, Democracy Now, White Flag, The View & Politics with Tabitha come to mind if I were responsible for the cross-pollination.
None of the audiences listed above wants to live in an autocracy. The alarmed responses in the comments & from callers tell us so.
Reciprocating on each other’s platforms with the sole mission of a pro-democracy win will reinforce to everyone’s audience that we are all in this thing together.
Your article lifted my spirits. The "withering" support staff and the "iceberg cracking " was welcome news. In my hopeful imagining, I had been likening Trump to Poe's story, "The Fall of the House of Usher", which had a hidden crack in its foundation that led to the literal "fall" of the house. Enough of my imagining. Best of all, thanks for DIY bullet points.
Thinking back 50 years to Tricky Dick. For young folks, here's a timeline summary of the 2+ years of the Watergate scandal that brought him down (his self-destruction.)
Nixon didn't need to employ tricks and spying on the Democratic campaign because McGovern was one of the Dem's weakest candidates, ever. But Nixon and his campaign leaders (all morally impaired) were triggered by the silly campaign tricks by the Dems. The DNC tricksters were mostly using humor, exposing the craven idiocy and hypocracy of the GOP (sound familiar Lincoln Project?) But Nixon and his key advisors (Mitchell, Erlichman, Haldeman, etc) had no sense of humor. So they allocated hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars (under the table) to pay teams of spies, burglars and tricksters. And they got caught breaking federal laws. Nixon approved more campaign money and the illegal use of government agencies to protect his team of crooks and obstruct the investigation. That was his self-inflicted downfall.
Instead of a multiple tricks/break-ins/wire tapping, Donald (likely with advice from Cohn and Stone and Miller) created one, enormous, national campaign trick. The "election will be/was rigged" trick. It's the "heads I win, tails you lose" trick. The Press and the gullible MAGAs fell for it. And this juvenile Con trick continues to work for him. Don's Con is bigger than Madoff and all the other recent Big Con artists combined. Future history writers will be amazed that he got away with this for so long.
IGreat piece Reid!! I got a card today when I received my Biden/Harris 2024 magnet in the mail. I'm more motivated than ever now so I'm including the words here for inspiration. This is what it said:
Some are posting on social media,
Some are protesting in the streets,
Some are donating silently,
Some are educating themselves,
Some are having tough conversations with friends and family. (Some of us are doing all of these things)
A revolution has many lanes - So be kind to yourself and to others who are traveling in the same direction.

Donate to “Forgotten Democrats”. They help put blue bodies in spots where shitty republicans run un opposed. 🤘🏼💥

I love the way your mind works! ❤️
Excellent!
Keep going, Reed. Change up your publishing conduits so this messaging gets wider coverage. More people need to hear it repeatedly.

Start by reaching out to your local Democratic Party about volunteering, as well as any group on the ground trying to register voters. 💙

Between you and Rick it is a joy watching how you guys know how to get Trumps malignant dementia and narcissism!
