Good piece, though dispiriting. One thing that I find especially upsetting is that right now, there's a discharge petition circulating in the House that would end mid-decade gerrymandering. It's obviously a narrow fix, but if every Democrat supported it, that would be enough to get it passed.

As far as I know, not a single Dem has signed that petition.

you write as if the business of the state and the mpact on the population would be comparable whichever party wins. This is clearly rubbish. The Democrats will not continue to destroy the environment, consumer protection, and the economy; they will restore most of the protections that had been built over the past 50 years. And they are likely to do it honestly rather than supporting Trump's extreme corruption. They will close tax loopholes and restore at least the 2016 tax rates that Trump has been cutting and cutting. Taxes were not oppressive in 2016.
