Join me and DNC Vice Chair David Hogg for a conversation about his background, his start in politics, why he’s challenging the status quo within the Democratic Party (and their unhappiness about it,) and how he stays focused with all the attention (good and bad) headed his way.
I am glad to hear what David has to say. He has certainly done his homework thankfully! This GenX is so impressed with his courage and knowledge at his age.
I hate that Biden failed to prioritize strategic DISinformation via algorithms that are “Red Pilling” young men and pushing anti vax lies. We now know it was a matter of national security.
I realize that Biden’s age had a lot to do with it but that’s really NO excuse.
On the Party:
I listen to a lot of political lives on Social Media. Dems really are our own WORST enemies. Trump can be as disgusting and vile as he wants and his base has no moral lows, yet Dems expect almost irrational perfection from each other. Our party is SO broad and encompasses every voter that the Republican Party abandoned with every shift rightward.
So this too makes it harder.
One thing I have noticed… Younger Democrats know how to speak their message so much more effectively than older Dems, yet can be distracted and redirected towards defending issues that affect a much smaller demographic. I do agree with and understand why those issues are important.
With Trump’s horrible Tariffs and economic numbers, it seems like an obvious messaging opportunity has been GIFTED to us.
DEMOCRATS ARE BETTER WITH THE ECONOMY!
We have the numbers to prove it.
I personally think in purple states it would be a mistake not to run candidates who voters feel have the experience to piece our government and economy back together. It would be a mistake to take a chance on running young inexperienced people in these districts. Voters will be feeling so broken and concerned by midterms and will be craving an experienced seasoned leader.
Protecting constitutional rights for all should be another repetitive message of what Dems are FOR.
The messaging opportunities seem to be endless right now but Democratic Leaders of all ages are not seizing on them. Dems are not informing Voters about how much Trump is costing taxpayers daily, or how Trump has dismantled US national security protections, or how Trump has sold out our Oil industry to the Saudis.
Immigration. It almost seems as if Republicans are also controlling the Democrat’s messaging by pushing us back onto repetitive topics to keep us from talking more broadly to Voters and informing Americans about stripping Medicare/Medicaid, or the fact that Russia tried to login and retrieve DOGE intel 20 minutes after DOGE employees accessed sensitive US government intelligence. Abortion, Trans rights, Immigration are also important but we should be careful that we don’t become so focused on these topics that we desensitize the public to them, which is another reason why I suspect Republicans intentionally try to push the Democratic messaging exclusively towards these issues.
Can the DNC find a knowledgeable Party Spokesman whose job would be to inform and be as visible as possible on exclusively social media? Like a Democratic “Rogan” who can appeal to young men of all races and education levels who can make supporting the women in their lives, and quest for knowledge cool again? I know. Probably sounds cheesy but I honestly think that alot of these kids are just looking to belong.
Just some ideas… but we needed to start yesterday.
Excellent discussion. I wasn't too sure about David Hogg, but now I understand his views. His insights are good. He needs party leaders and all to pay attention to his ideas. An indeed, holding office sure doesn't mean you have it for life. Thanks, Reed for this discussion.
Fantastic perspective! I see him in my older kids who say the same things. We can discuss and decide to action all his ideas and never focus on where will we find the money. USA remains the sovereign currency of the world; for now. Democrats need to accept this fact, write it foundationally into the platform and win the narrative against the oligarchy! Take the perceived power away from them by making them irrelevant. We don’t need their f’n money. Blue Revolution now!!
I will watch the video later, but from what I had read and heard elsewhere, the problems were stemming from the fact that he was not being neutral. I think they are concerned about DNC officials playing favorites with candidates.
But I haven't watched the video yet. I had heard Simon Rosenberg and others discussing the issues with how he's doing the vice chair job.

Good luck David.
Thanks for taking the job!💙
