This was a great discussion between Reed & Stephanie. The mix of the political analysis and economic/market analysis was great, you two should consider a monthly collaboration video or something because I would love something like this as a regular lineup.
Let's get the big picture straight here. The plan is to completely privatize the public sector.
Spending on the public sector, to Trump and Musk and their billionaire bros (TMBB), is like a narcotic. We've been so drugged up by spending money on useful, tax-funded services and safety-net "fraud and abuse" that we no longer can perceive the glory of turning all this stuff over to TMBB. Some of us may be so drugged up that we even think the US should be spending more just because our GDP share of public sector spending lags so far behind the example of almost all European countries. (European voters are even more drug-addled than we are.) But never fear, we may get to spend some time in drug rehab (i.e., prison) in El Salvador.
If Musk wants to go to Mars, he should do it on his own dime, or find other rich people who want to join him. By the way, haven’t people watched Total Recall? Musk will probably want to colonize Mars the way the movie described and it was terrifying.
Great discussion but you both have a fundamental flaw in your Social Security operation. It will never run out of funding unless the Congress completely defunded it. Alan Greenspan explained it to Paul Ryan but you all never seem to hear the response. Fiat currency remains our economic fuel not the f’n market. I stand ready to discuss.
