If No Labels fails to pass the "primary purpose test" for a 501c4, meaning over 50% of their purpose is not for political purposes, then the IRS should be levying heavy penalties and examining whether they should pull No Labels' IRS C4 designation. I believe that test is measured over a 3 year rolling basis, so that may be the fig leaf they are trying to hide behind.

Thanks for this explanation of tax law. All I can add is I hope the fig leaf withers away.

Oops. After two cups of coffee, I remembered this. The fig leaves didn't hide anything.

Good grief. Knew they were bad, but not this bad. Thanks, Reed, for you and LP staying on top of this.

A "unity" ticket with a Republican and a Democrat. Reminds me of the Lincoln/Johnson ticket. How did that work out? But the biggest threat that hardly anyone is talking about is the fact that even if they do win a state or two, taking those electoral votes away from the winner who needs 270 will throw the election to the House of Representatives. Currently, I believe, R's control 26 or 27 states.

Of all the political years to launch a 3rd party they choose this one (purposely). Even if they weren't doing this to throw the election to Trump, they'd still be a losing proposition. Third parties haven't had much of a track record and No Labels went into this with their eyes wide open.

Launching a third party wasn't their reason for starting. It is a branch of the Trump campaign organization to weaken Biden's chances of winning in November. Republicans are very well know for running oppositional candidates to weaken opponents. It doesn't often work, but they keep trying. Don't be fooled by their name, they have a very definite label, Trump Campaign!

Well said. I was wondering about nancy . No labels, I hope, will stop this charade. We have a lot more problems than having some clowns running their clown car right into the side of this election. This shit is getting old .
