It's a good question. First, they knew when this speech was going to take place. Second, they knew from the early reporting what Trump was going to talk about who would be in the audience. They could/should have come up with something. What they need mostly, though, is a big, loud, ugly, messy, public fight for what the party represents going forward. Be not afraid.
So you think they should been more interruptive? As a democrat I want the fight too, but in this case would they have been painted like the MTG/Bobert baboons? I think their lack of unity in their response hurt them.
I didn't watch it either. Why? knew what he was going to say. Skipped around looking for something interesting--finally hit upon the 4th quarter of Knicks and Golden State Warriors. Fourth quarters are always exciting. I had hope that the democrats would come out fighting or at least be loud. I guess from what you have said, they didn't. That is disappointing.
Last PM was Mardi Gras so we vicariously joined the Rex and Comus balls. Much more fun However reading the aftermath and commentary there were no surprises. A little hard to walk back your joint session comments to match with the Court filings. Whom do you believe.? If we have 150 year olds on SSA drag them off to NIH and see why they live so long. Yes all the SSA comments were lies but to what end game.
Glad you had a good dinner with movie and dogs. A treasure to remember
There has been an abundance of criticism of the democrats, but I honestly don’t know what to make of it because it’s so contradictory. Some criticize them for standing back and waiting for Trump to self-destruct, saying they should be making noise. Some criticize those who are making noise, saying it lacks decorum. Others say that the time for decorum is gone; it only makes them look weak. Re: Trump’s speech to the nation, some said they should be loud and disruptive - while others criticized those who were. Some said they should all boycott, while others said this was a terrible idea because it would be seen as a sign of subservience.
I’m tired of the convoluted responses. If someone could offer a well-informed response about what they SHOULD be doing (including how they should have responded to the speech), I would be utterly delighted to contact my representatives (and everyone else’s) and offer some advice.
Just an honest question. What do you think the Democrats should have done??

Thanks for the response Reed, I really appreciate your leadership through these hard times.

Unified would have been a start
