I’m behind on my episodes and catching up, but I agree with Tara Palmeri. Democrats impeaching Trump would likely be a waste of time if Republicans can just block it in the Senate. And it also allows Trump to play the martyr to the low information voters. As much as I’d want to see him impeached, I just don’t think it’ll go anywhere. I think a Democratic Congress should enforce court orders instead. Every one of them that Trump is currently flouting. It would reenforce the message that America has no king quite nicely.

Hi Reed. Always enjoy the conversation when you and Tara get together. I need to draw your attention to one item you briefly talked about. The Department of Education. Will any one miss it? Yes, if you live in a poor community, if you have a child on and IEP (Individual Education Plan), if you care about enforcement of non-discrimination policies and civil rights violations, want to collect data for best practices, have a special needs child, need a Pell Grant to go to college. More here: https://time.com/7270145/what-does-the-department-of-education-do/

Could certain items be moved to other agencies? Yes, but will those agencies have proper staffing and give issues the amount of attention warranted?

It is easy to laugh it off, until you start understanding how many people it actually effects.

Your equivocating is absurdly ridiculous. You’re holding one incident of Gavin Newsom‘s that happened five years ago up against a tidal wave of continuous abuse and corruption on the right.

How many presidential campaigns have been ended by something that happened years in the past? A lot.

As a frustrated, left wing Democrat I greatly appreciate your critique of the Dems. Jeffries must go. How that happens with a CBC in a semi-permanent defensive crouch remains to be seen.

My fear is that the “Carville Doctrine” had already taken hold before he suggested the Democrats play dead. (How could you tell the difference?) there isn’t anyone out there explaining what they’d do or why they’re better. The arguments at the state and local levels - normalcy and competence are a perfectly good start. But the initial piece is a mindset: I want to win and I’ll do what it takes to make it happen.
