When George finished his glorious moment of TRUTH TELLING, I was finally able to take a real deep breath of fresh air. He is what everyone should recognize as a true patriot— one who loves America and stands for truth (not truth that’s “spun”) and the rule of (constitutional) law. Rock on, Mr. Conway! 👏👏👏

I agree with you; he's been brave from day one, speaking truth to power on cable TV appearances. Loved his messaging ever since.

Trump's game has been the same for 40 years.

Appeal to weak people, easily seduced by power and money, willing...eager to debase themselves.

He found easy pickings in the GOP, whose principles were a millimeter deep, and a base who have no allegiance to the country.

The GOP "intelligentsia" (pundits, columnists, cable has-beens, SCOTUS justices, etc) tell themselves that Democrats are evil, hence any lie and any crime committed by their team is justified. Alliances with Orban and Putin are acceptable in this framework, and the further down the sewage pile they crawl, the greater the criminality they will excuse.

MAGA GOPers are all cleaned-up versions of Alex Jones and Steve Bannon. They'll fight to the end to drag everyone down to their level. Their greatest anger and gaslighting will be directed to never-MAGAs who refusr to disgrace themselves.

And that are now few and far between. Steve Bannon didn’t clean up good. He looks like he has ALL the diseases. I’m so sick of being embarrassed by the crass and lowbrow behavior of our elected “leaders”.

Ugly inside and out.

We need more George, Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, folks at LP and the Bulwark. People who know better but go along because they are professional Republicans are putting self-interest above everything else.

CNN and other MSM outfits think they can stay profitable even in a dictatorship are badly mistaken.

Expand full comment

Oh they can stay profitable in a dictatorship. There will be lots of money for those who go along and say what they are told to say.

Some will become party mouthpieces and stay profitable, but there are so many ahead of them in the queue (Fox, Newsmax, Epoch Times, etc.)

Steve Schmidt, Joyce Vance and Heather Cox Richardson are all awesome as well. The information that they share is invaluable.

George Conway was eloquent, forceful, factual, and on point! It was one of the best performances I have seen any commentator have in recent years. Every time I think I'll give CNN another chance, they demonstrate how milquetoast they have become. So , CNN thinks confronting someone with facts and calling them on their lies is not to be tolerated, but robotically reciting lies is ok. If decorum were really the order of the day, they'd NEVER let Trump on air.

Or Scott Jennings!!! 🤬

If I'm ever lucky enough to be in George's presence, I hope I can contain myself & not bow & kiss his hand. Who gives a shit if CNN cancels him. Joe & Mika & Nicolle will welcome him.

Ben Franklin said "Fools multiply Folly."

Is Scott Jennings an unknowing Fool, parroting Donald's lies to appeal to the gullible MAGA audience?

Or is he a Trump World insider and ally of Roger Stone, Putin and his oligarchs?

He's not a stupid man. It appears he's chosen the Bad Faith, Pro Russia, Anti America side.

I like the Ben Franklin quote.

Yes yes yes! Thank you and thank George for highlighting the absurdity of the situation and the shame of rhe media. I can’t believe major prof journalists are still to this day unprepared to push back on the river of lies told my Trump and his MAGA minions.

Yes, indeed. Enough of the BS. Way to go George.

Hurray and thank God for George! Great article, thank you.

Bullseye! Perfectly done. The amount of bold-faced lying by GOP commentators is reprehensible. Why they have a shred of credibility left is beyond me.

I have stopped watching CNN. Like right after poor Collins was eviscerated by Trump at the CNN “town hall”. I’m sick of these smug and smarmy liars like Scott Jennings.

It was both wonderful and painful to watch. George’s calling out of Scott’s lies ( I began screaming at the screen) and listing all the truths no one was acknowledging was perfect. He was Superman and Thanos.

Poor Richard also wrote, "A man who is wrapped up in himself, makes a very small package."

Appropriate for small minded Donald.

Ben was a man of wisdom. Nice quote to fit the moment.

It’s interesting to read this article while multitasking by watching “Aliens.” This is a movie I’ve watched multiple times, even after seeing it initially in a theater. It had a clear enemy, and the villains are mealymouthed corporate shills willing to sell out everyone and everything. Much like corporate shills are doing here in our country. The heroine, Ripley, ultimately triumphs because she is under no illusion about the stakes for her and, in this story, a little girl named Newt. The alien must be killed at all costs, just as we should decapitate the Trump phenomenon. They use flame throwers; we should find an equivalent. The law seems to offer the best potential, but there are many roadblocks, from judges to senators and members of Congress. But we should try. I think George Conway would agree. Doing something is better than doing nothing.

Well, that sounds interesting.😊

George Conway deserves some credit, and our great sympathy, for remaining married as long as he did to that screeching MAGA Sea Hag, Kellyanne Conway.

I give George Conway a LOT of credit, he’s stepped up for democracy and our country, he’s not bs-ing and he’s not a maga apologist. I have loathed Scott Jennings since CNN brought him on. The Scott Jennings exchange described here is one of many examples why I can’t watch CNN anymore. The fact that Scott, and others, get paid to lie on air, and when the lies are called out, the news anchor defends him/others because they are “colleagues”. WTF is that all about? How about defending the truth, what the hell happened to that practice as a journalist? If the anchors aren’t defending their lying contributors, they oftentimes just sit there, silently blinking and don’t push back on the lies being broadcasted. The last time I watched CNN, after Chris Licht took over and changed the programming, I was literally yelling at the tv as if the anchor could hear me, because no one pushed back. The heavy both-sidesing began back then, and it was hard to hear bitter repubs have ample air time to spew their nonsense. It’s like everyone on that network is afraid to lose their jobs if they speak up/push back/tell the truth. CNN is a mere shell of what it used to be.
