My consolation for the cretins who trolled Gus is they got their asses handed to them.
I have a neurodivergent kid. My daughter in law is neurodivergent. If they thought they would get to Gov Walz through Gus, they were sorely mistaken. All they accomplished was pissing people off big time.
During this convention--and I don't consider myself a crier--I have welled up with tears more times than I can keep count. The joy, kindness and love that filled the convention hall brought a lump in my throat and tears to my eyes at so many unexpected moments. Wow! the Dems. have even recaptured the Flag! But the joyful heartfelt tears of Gus were so special. My goodness what a kid! What a family. All our tears were shared tears of joy for a love that passes all understanding. Thanks, Reed for all you have shared with us at this time. Peace be with you. Take care.
Thank you, Reed, for highlighting the humanity and joy revealed in the Democratic Convention and sharing your reaction to the beauty and love of the Walz family.
I practically cried my way through the convention. They were tears of relief. Glancing out at the crowd, I realized that THIS is what America looks like. Listening to the speeches that represented a broad divergence of ideas, I was reminded that THIS is what we believe. If we paid attention to the research of anthropologists, we would know that societies built on complete individualism and the fractiousness that creates do not survive. We are WE, and that is essential. As for the MAGA “reptiles” (good description), I’m glad they had their asses handed to them. After 9 years of watching an old, ugly, fat, unintelligent man and his minions mock people who cannot help who and what they are, it is time to call them out. Yes, I know I just indulged in name calling, but I am weary. I’m a psychotherapist who works with lots of delightful neurodivergent people. I have family members who are neurodivergent - as well as utterly brilliant individuals who are making important contributions to society. They are ALL far kinder and wiser than trump and his goons will ever be.
Reed as always your words are powerful and honestly true. Thank you. I have learned so much about politics and the Republican Party from you. I am eternally grateful. My family including my parents went from normal republicans to hardcore Trumpers and it has broken my heart. I on the other hand have gone to the Democrats. There is a divide now that has saddened me to no end. We still remain a family and in contact but something has changed and it hurts my heart. Therapy over the last four years has helped but equally as much as the learning from you, the Lincoln Project, Rick Wilson and all the other democracy activists who were members of the old Republican Party. I am ever grateful for you all for your service to our country and to me personally for my learning and healing in these very trying times. Thank you!Harris Walz 2024! ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

All true.
That last line in your piece is golden, although it is sad to say that...
Lovely ….
