For most* of us, being an American is still winning life’s lottery. Unemployment is at historic lows. Take-home pay is rising. We are the home to incredible breakthroughs in medicine and technology. Yet, we’re a nation divided and on the brink of losing the soul of our nation. Here’s what we can and must do to ensure we pull back from the bring in November.
You really are a terrific writer, Reed. My favorite essay you wrote will probably always be the one describing your experience going to the Taylor Swift concert with your daughters. So far this one is the runner up.
Never though I'd hear 'We Have Ways...' mentioned here. That was a delight. Nice one, Reed.
Everyone should remember there is a huge difference between 2020 and now. During the pandemic, there was very little face-to-face canvassing conducted by the Democrats. For obvious reasons they used the telephone instead. But that is a far less effective campaigning tool. In contrast, the GOP did not give a damn about infecting fellow citizens which gave them an edge in getting out the vote. And yet they still lost the election by a big, big margin. As Reed says, it's going to be different this year. The grassroots campaigns already being organised are astonishing and inspiring. Volunteers are surging into them. So don't let the polls influence you, sign up to canvass, send postcards, whatever. Just do something and, above all, keep calm and carry on. If you need suggestions then go over to Simon Rosenberg's Substack. He post daily links to communities of volunteers who can help you.
If you don't have much free time, concentrate on October. That's the critical moment to reach out to those voters who tune out the news (and who can blame them).
As ever, there are millions of people around the world cheering you on.
"History tells us when the talking stops, we hear not silence, but violence." This is so true. Now Kari Lake is telling her followers to "strap on a Glock." They are, indeed, promoting violence.
Right on coach! I’m just waking up and feel like running out the door and knocking on doors. Well, maybe not doors, this early. But definitely fired up! We can do this !
This is a beautiful piece. Thank you for all you do 🙏⚖️✨🇺🇸💫

Wow who are you? Kari Lake is one of the good ones
Beautiful, Reed. As always, thank you for keeping us focused and inspired.
