Roy Cohn took the young Trump under his ghastly wing and taught him everything he knew/knows. As it will for all of us, Cohn ran into old-age issues due to his unruly life pattern and called Trump shortly before passing into another universe, asking him for a hotel room where he could recover from unknown ailments. Trump never returned the phone call. Worse, he did not attend Cohn's funeral. All according to Thom Hartmann's latest, "The Last American President". A good read. I am on my third cycle through it; I keep finding stuff that has me saying, "how did I miss that?".
