Joe Biden Made History Today. Kamala Harris Will Make History in November.
By now you’ve read that President Joe Biden has decided to step aside as Democratic nominee in 2024 and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in his place.
The president put the country before himself today. He had every right to continue his candidacy through November. His choice to step aside is the continuation and perhaps the culmination of a lifetime of honorable service to the United States and the American people.
His decision to endorse Vice President Harris is historic in its own right. She will be (and yes she WILL BE) the second female presidential nominee, the first woman of color to hold national office, and the first woman elected President of the United States.
Her presence against Donald Trump scrambles the race. What better contrast to Trump than Kamala Harris? For example:
She IS the American dream made real.
She will take her experience as a prosecutor and make the case FOR America and AGAINST Donald Trump, the felon.
Donald Trump is a doddering, unhinged old man. Kamala Harris is not.
Kamala Harris can complete a coherent thought and string more than one sentence together. Donald Trump cannot.
The Trump campaign, try as they might, can’t make the “not qualified for the job” argument.
She will bring a much-needed boost of energy and enthusiasm to the Democratic Party.
The Trump campaign will be terrified of putting him on a stage with the vice president.
There are two sides to this campaign, of course. While Mar-A-Lago considered Biden might drop out post-debate, they must now go into overdrive telling the world why she can’t win.
Trump personally, and MAGA generally will over-rotate on the misyogny and racism in the coming hours and days. They can’t help themselves. Given that JD Vance believes women belong in the home (save his wife ((also of South Asian heritage, BTW)) the Opus Dei freaks and Evangelical weirdos will roll out every attack they have.
The anti-semites will get in on the game, too, given Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff’s Jewish faith.
What they will fail to understand, though, is frankly how low the bar had fallen in a rematch between Trump and Biden. Will Harris cruise to victory? Of course not. The country is too divided for anything other than a knock-down drag out fight to the finish.
However, a lot of otherwise dispirited voters, those millions who were unhappy about their choice between two very old white guys, now have someone new, younger, and far more dynamic to consider.
As the Vice President’s campaign takes shape, they will have the opportunity to re-introduce her to the American people, reframe the race, and restate the stakes of this election.
Her people also have the chance to move some not-agressive-enough individuals out of key strategic roles and get the party apparatus on its front foot; taking the fight to Donald Trump 24/7 as her organization crystallizes ahead of the Democratic Convention next month.
I’ve been in politics in my life and 2024 is shaping up to be the year that no one could have predicted. There will be more insanity before November. Now, though, we know what the playing field will look like. We know who and what we're up against. Trump hasn’t changed, and will not be better in the next 100+ days.
We should thank Joe Biden for his service and welcome Vice President Kamala Harris to the race with open arms, clear eyes, and full hearts. We can do this, folks. We must do this. We will do this.
Onward to victory!

OK so now if the MEDIA wants to discuss AGE the old guy is the Republican.
Now if the Media wants to think about it Harris is a much younger candidate.
But I guess they won’t speak of age now because the old guy is the R.
However, an intelligent woman is far superior to a dwindling man who rarely gets history correct, mangles words and speaks predominantly of his love for hateful dictators. And he who does this has the audacity to hold a bible in his hand while preaching hate and cruelty.

a lot of people remember how awkward she was as a primary candidate in 2020 - but she has matured a lot since then, has been around the world a lot, has spoken as V-P a lot, and has some policy issues on which she is articulate.
Is she used to be being attacked unfairly and viciously? Not as much as she will have to become ... But she's strong and smart.
REALLY dumb if the Dems try to put anyone else in as candidate. Big insult to women and Blacks if they try (and Gov Whitmer will not want to try to step in ahead of her).
Fingers crossed, but she certainly does remove a lot of the attacks (mostly unfair) against Biden. She will have her own unfair attacks. I wish her fortitude and eloquence (and maybe luck, if she needs it.)
